About Caremark and South

Caremark Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire supports adults in their own homes across Cambridge and the surrounding villages. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. Our visits cover the practical ground that keeps somebody living comfortably at home: help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking and eating well, laundry and tidying, shopping, and getting out to appointments, groups, work or simply to see people. How much of that is wanted, and when, is for the person to decide rather than for us to prescribe. Continuity is what makes home care work. Being helped with personal care by somebody unfamiliar is genuinely uncomfortable, and for anybody living with dementia an unexpected face at the door can unsettle a whole morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change cannot be avoided. Where somebody communicates in their own way or has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What sits behind that is unglamorous: arriving when we said we would, sending people who already know you, and training our care workers properly before they start.
