About Domiciliary Care Services and Supportive Living Services
We provide care and supported living at home in Halifax and the surrounding part of Calderdale, working with adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. Supported living means the house or flat belongs to the person rather than to us. We come in to help with whatever makes living there possible, and the aim is always that somebody runs their own life as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We ask what a person wants their life to look like before we suggest anything, and we expect to revise what we do as things change. Consistency of staff counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people and for anyone whose mental health is unsettled, so we keep our teams as settled as we can. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
