About Martlets Hospice
We are Martlets, based in Hove and providing care and support to people in their own homes across the city and the surrounding area. We work with older people and people living with dementia, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, younger adults, and people living with an eating disorder. A great deal of our work is with people who are seriously ill and who would rather be at home than anywhere else, and with the families around them. That shapes how we work. We pay close attention to comfort, to symptoms, and to the practical things that make home manageable when somebody is very unwell. We also pay attention to the people doing the caring, because they are usually exhausted and rarely ask for anything for themselves. Support is planned with the person and adjusted as often as it needs to be, which in this work can be week to week. We keep the same staff visiting the same households wherever we can, since continuity matters enormously when time is short. We work closely with GPs, district nurses, community teams and specialist colleagues so that nothing falls between services. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to talk about what would help.
