About At Home
We are a home care agency in Hove, supporting people across Brighton and Hove in their own homes. Some of those we visit need half an hour in the morning to get the day started safely. Others need us several times a day, every day. Both matter, and we would rather do a small amount reliably than promise more than we can staff. The people we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, those with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults finding their footing in independent living. What holds that together is not a method but an attitude: we ask what the person wants their day to look like, and then we work out how to make that happen. Practical help is most of what we do. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, shopping, keeping on top of a home that has become hard to manage alone. Alongside it sits something less easily listed. A great many of our visits are the only conversation somebody has that day, and we do not rush them. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We will not use that as a reason to stop looking at ourselves closely. If we get something wrong we would like the person or their family to tell us directly, and we make it easy to do so.
