About Own Care
We are Own Care, a home care agency working across Brent and the neighbouring parts of London. Our carers go to people at home and help with the things that have become harder to manage alone, so that daily life can carry on in familiar surroundings. Much of our work is with older people who want practical, dependable help: assistance with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals, keeping the home in order, and company that is genuine rather than a box ticked. We also support younger adults, people living with a physical disability, and people whose sight or hearing has changed and who need care delivered patiently and clearly. We start by listening. Before any visits begin we sit down with the person, and with family if they want them there, to work out what would actually make a difference. Some households need half an hour in the morning. Others need several calls a day. We write the plan down, we review it, and we change it when it stops fitting. We also try to keep the same carers with the same clients, since consistency is what turns a service into a relationship. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are glad of that and we keep asking how we can improve. If you are looking into support at home in Brent, please get in touch and we will talk honestly about what we can offer.
