Oasis provides support at home for people in Brent and the surrounding parts of London. With a range that wide we do not pretend one approach suits everybody. We spend proper time at the start understanding how somebody lives, what they want help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves, and we then think carefully about which carer suits which person. The right match makes more difference than anything written in a plan, and once it is working we try to protect it by keeping the same small team visiting. Visits can cover personal care and medication, cooking, shopping and housework, support to get out into the community or to work and college, or company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. Some people need one short call a day and others need several, or support overnight. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat it as the standard we are expected to hold rather than an achievement to display, and we keep asking the people we support whether we are doing what we promised.
