About Primera Assisted Living
We are a home care agency supporting people across Barnet and the surrounding parts of London. Our work is straightforward to describe. We visit people in their own homes and help with the things that have become difficult, so that moving somewhere else does not become the only option on the table. The people we support are varied. Older adults make up much of our work, many of them living with dementia. We also support autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, those living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults who want help to live independently rather than to be looked after. London brings its own practicalities. Travel is unpredictable, and a carer stuck in traffic is not a neutral event when somebody is waiting for their medication. We build our rounds with that in mind and we would rather take on fewer visits than run a schedule that only works on a good day. We spend real time on the first assessment, in the person's own home, talking about how they like things done. Families often come to us with a list of tasks. The person themselves usually wants to talk about something else entirely, and that conversation is the one that shapes the plan. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We would still rather a family told us about a problem in the week it happened than saved it for an inspection.
