About DALO
We provide support at home in Barnet and the surrounding part of London, working with adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairments and younger adults. Our work is about helping people live in their own homes and run their own lives as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We start by asking what somebody wants their life to look like rather than arriving with a plan already written. Consistency of staff counts for a great deal in this work, particularly for autistic people, so we keep our teams as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Where sight or hearing is poor, small habits matter: saying who you are on coming in and leaving things where they were put. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
