We are Heart Care, based in Barnet, and we provide care in people's own homes across the borough and nearby. We support older people, including many living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We visit, ask how the day actually goes, find out what has become difficult and what somebody still wants to do unaided, and then we say what we think would help. Sometimes that turns out to be less than a family expected, and we would rather be honest about it. Support might be a short call in the morning to get the day going, a prompt and a check with medication, a cooked meal and company while it is eaten, help getting safely about the house, or several visits a day. Where a relative is caring full time, a longer visit that lets them leave the house properly is often the most valuable thing we can do. We match carers to households and keep them there wherever the rota allows, because that relationship is the whole point. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission. We prefer to say so plainly, and we welcome questions about how we recruit and train our carers.
