We are a home care agency working in Romford and across Barking and Dagenham, supporting people in their own homes. We visit older people, including many living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Care at home only works if it fits the person. Some of the people we support need brief calls at the start and end of the day, help with washing and dressing, medication and a meal. Others need longer visits, or several through the day, or support that is less about tasks and more about company, confidence and getting out of the house. We agree what is needed with the person and their family, write it down clearly and change it when life changes. We try hard to send the same carers to the same people. Continuity is not a luxury in this work. It is what lets a carer notice that somebody is not quite themselves today, which is often the thing that matters most.
