Our carers know the estates and the back roads, they know which blocks have a lift that fails and they are not travelling an hour to reach a half hour visit. That is not a sentimental point about community, it is the practical reason our visits happen when we said they would. The support we provide is ordinary and important. Help to get up, wash and dress. Medication prompted or administered and properly recorded. Meals prepared. Help moving about the home safely. Company for people who go whole days without speaking to anybody else. For younger adults, support that fits around work, study or family rather than treating them as patients.
