About Springfields Supported Services
Springfields Supported provides support to adults in their own homes in Barking and the surrounding part of Barking and Dagenham. We work with older people and younger adults, adults with learning disabilities and autism, and people managing mental health conditions. The idea behind supported living is straightforward. It is the person's home and the person's life, and our job is to make that workable while leaving as much as possible in their hands. That means help with personal care and medicines where it is needed, and a good deal of attention to the skills and routines independent living demands: cooking, shopping, budgeting, keeping up with letters and appointments, using transport, and dealing with whatever goes wrong in a household. It also means support to have a life worth living. Seeing family and friends, getting to work, college, groups or activities, and making the ordinary decisions other adults make without thinking. For people with mental health needs, steadiness matters enormously, so we keep the team small and consistent and we notice early when somebody seems less well than they were. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support what they think of us, and we would rather be told something inconvenient early than find it out later.
