We are Oceanic Care, a home care agency supporting people across Barking and Dagenham in their own homes. Our work is arranged around the life a person already has rather than around a standard package, because home is where routines, belongings and neighbours already are and staying there is what most people want. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face at the door and a predictable routine do more good than almost anything else we could offer, so we keep the same small team visiting wherever we can. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, taking time to understand how somebody communicates and what helps them feel settled. We support people with a physical disability, assisting with mobility and daily tasks in a way that leaves decisions where they belong, and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we share information rather than expecting them to adapt to us. We also support people living with an eating disorder, where patience, consistency and a lack of judgement matter more than anything we could put in a leaflet. Every arrangement starts with a visit and a proper conversation about what would genuinely help and how often. We agree the detail, write it down plainly and review it as circumstances change.
