About Apapa House
Apapa House provides care and support to people in their own homes in Barking and across the borough of Barking and Dagenham. We work with older people, with people living with dementia, with people managing mental health conditions or eating disorders, and with people who have physical disabilities. Our work happens in other people's homes, which sets the terms of it. The person we visit is at home and we are there by invitation. What time the day starts, how the kitchen is arranged, what help is welcome and what would feel like interference are theirs to decide. Support ranges from a single call that makes the morning manageable to several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, household tasks and getting out of the house. We try to send the same small group of carers to each person, because trust takes time to build and because familiar staff are the ones who notice a change early enough for it to matter. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We say so plainly and welcome questions about how we work.
