About Greenhill Lodge
Greenhill Lodge is a residential care home in Worcester, supporting younger adults and older people from across Worcestershire. We work with people who have a learning disability, with autistic people, with people living with mental health needs and with people who have a physical disability. That is a wide remit for one house, and it works because we start with the individual rather than the category. Somebody with a learning disability who wants to learn to cook, an autistic resident who needs the week to be predictable, and a person coming through a long mental health difficulty are not variations on a theme, and treating them as such is how homes like this go wrong. So people here have their own rooms and their own things, a say in the food and the shopping, and support built around what they want their week to hold. We try to do things alongside people rather than for them, and to be patient while a skill is properly learned. Where a physical disability is part of the picture, the equipment and the help are there so that getting out is never a matter of staff convenience. Communication takes most of our effort. Some people here do not use speech, and nearly everything that goes wrong in settings like ours begins with somebody not being listened to properly. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Please visit, more than once if it helps, and meet the people who live here.

More about the care at Greenhill Lodge
Residential Care at Greenhill Lodge
West Midlands fees of £850 to £1150 a week are indicative, while Worcestershire usually pays about £680 to £820, and the route into a place here matters as much as the figure. Residential registration means support with everyday living and no nursing on site, so meals, personal care, help with medication and the shape of a week are covered while clinical treatment is not. Greenhill Lodge holds a wide remit for one house, covering learning disability and autism, mental health and physical disability alongside older person care. Ask who commissions a place and how reviews are run. Ask also what would happen if somebody's health needs grew past residential care.
Older Person Care at Greenhill Lodge
Twelve residents is the registered maximum at Greenhill Lodge, which makes it a house rather than an institution in scale. For an older person that means personal care and help with medication given in a small household, with their own room and their own things, a say in the food and the shopping, and support built around what they want the week to hold. The home says it starts with the individual rather than the category, which in a mixed house of this size is the only way it can work. Ask how many staff are on duty at night and what they are trained to do. Ask too how a routine is agreed and who a family rings out of hours.
Mental Health at Greenhill Lodge
A person coming through a long mental health difficulty is not a variation on a theme, as this house puts it, and treating people that way is how homes like it go wrong. Stability, routine and being treated as an adult are what tend to help. Ask what training staff have, who is on at night, and how a crisis is escalated locally.
Younger Adults at Greenhill Lodge
Worcestershire County Council is itself the registered provider here, so a place is likely to be arranged through the council rather than privately. Younger adults are named on the registration alongside older people. Ask who else of a similar age lives in the house, and how work, study or getting out into Worcester is supported.
Learning Disability and Autism at Greenhill Lodge
Somebody with a learning disability who wants to learn to cook is one of the examples this house uses to explain why it starts with the individual. It says it does things alongside people rather than for them, and is patient while a skill is properly learned. Ask who commissions the placement, how a plan is reviewed with the person, and how predictability is handled for autistic residents.
Physical Disability at Greenhill Lodge
Six categories share this one registration, physical disability among them. The home says the equipment and the help are there so that getting out is never a matter of staff convenience. Ask how transfers are assessed and recorded, what adaptations the building has, and whether doorways and bathrooms work for a wheelchair.
