We are a small setting and we like it that way, because it means we can genuinely know the people who live here rather than simply manage a routine. Our starting point is always the person. Some of the people we support want a busy week with plenty going on, while others prefer a quieter rhythm and their own space, and both are equally welcome. We help with everyday things such as cooking, laundry, appointments and money, but we do that alongside people rather than for them, so that skills grow instead of fading. Where someone communicates in their own way, we take the time to learn it. We know that a move into a care home matters enormously to families, so we keep in close contact. Relatives are welcome, questions get honest answers, and if something is not right we would far rather hear about it early. We also work with local health professionals so that changes in someone's health are picked up quickly. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places, which can give a family carer a proper break while their relative is somewhere familiar and settled.
