About Merecroft
We at Merecroft welcome you to our residential care home in Birmingham, where we provide specialist support for adults living with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. Nestled within the wider West Midlands region and serving families across Worcestershire and the surrounding Birmingham communities, our home offers a calm, familiar base where residents can truly feel settled. Our setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel like a genuine home rather than an institution. Comfortable communal areas encourage sociable moments and shared activities, whilst private spaces give each resident somewhere quiet to retreat, reflect and enjoy their own company. The local Birmingham surroundings mean loved ones can visit easily, and residents remain connected to the community life they know. We specialise in supporting younger adults and people living with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions. In practice, this means our approach is highly individual. We take the time to understand each person as a whole, their history, their preferences, the routines that bring them comfort and the goals that give them purpose. Care plans are shaped around the person, not the other way round, and we work closely with families, healthcare professionals and advocates to make sure every voice is heard. Alongside long term residential care, we also offer respite stays. This can be a lifeline for family carers who need a well earned break, or a reassuring option for those considering a move to residential living and wanting to experience it first. Respite guests receive the same warm welcome and thoughtful support as our permanent residents, with the aim of making every stay feel restful and worthwhile. Following the most recent Care Quality Commission inspection in December 2023, Merecroft received an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We believe in being open about this. Our team was rated Good for being Effective, Caring and Responsive, which reflects the compassionate, person centred spirit that guides our daily work. The inspectors identified areas within Safe and Well led where further progress is needed, and we are actively focused on strengthening these aspects so that every resident benefits from the highest standards across the board. Transparency matters to us, and so does continuous improvement. Choosing a care home for someone you love is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you would like to learn more about life at Merecroft, arrange a visit or discuss whether our support might be right for your relative, please do get in touch. We would be honoured to answer your questions and show you around.
