About Kadimah
We are Kadimah, a residential care home in Crowthorne, in the borough of Wokingham. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that mix of needs under one roof, planning has to be done person by person. We take time at the start to understand how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we write it down and revisit it as things move on. Where dementia and a sensory impairment occur together, which is common, we check the simple explanation before the complicated one. A hearing aid that has stopped working accounts for a great deal that otherwise gets recorded as confusion. For residents with a physical disability the important things are practical. Time enough that nothing is rushed, equipment set up as it should be, and asking the person how they prefer a transfer done rather than assuming. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
