About Herewards House
Herewards House is a residential care home in Maidenhead. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We aim to be a home rather than an institution. People bring their own things, keep their own routines and make their own decisions about how the day goes, and our job is to provide the right amount of help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility without taking over what somebody can still do themselves. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We spend time learning about each person's life, their habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what allows staff to respond well in a difficult moment rather than simply react to it. Familiar faces, familiar routines and a calm environment do a great deal of the work. Respite stays are properly planned and given the same attention as any other admission, whether they are giving a family carer a break or supporting somebody through a period of recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, we are working through them with the team, and if you visit we will tell you where we have got to and what is still outstanding. We would encourage you to come and see for yourself.
