About Innovations - 10 The Crescent
The Crescent in Pewsey, part of Innovations Wiltshire, is a residential care home supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, adults living with mental ill health, older people who need help with daily living, and younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. We are a household rather than a facility, and supporting a mixed group well depends on treating each person as an individual rather than as a category. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled home and support that is available when they ask. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance, staffing is kept consistent where we can, and noise, light and busyness are taken seriously. For residents living with mental ill health, what helps most is steadiness and a house that holds together when somebody has a difficult stretch. Wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them, because a skill used is a skill kept, and we are patient about that even when it takes longer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.
