About Elreg House
Elreg House is a residential care home in Shoreham by Sea, looking after older people who need support with daily life. We offer permanent places and respite stays. We are not a nursing home, and that shapes what we are for. Our residents need help with the ordinary business of living rather than clinical treatment, so our attention goes to the day itself: meals people actually want to eat, company, a routine that belongs to the resident rather than the rota, and support to keep doing whatever they can still do themselves. A number of residents live with dementia. Our approach relies on familiarity more than anything else. The same faces, the same rhythm to the day, surroundings that make sense, and staff who take the time to work out what someone is trying to express rather than simply responding to how it comes out. It is slower and it works better. Being near the coast has its advantages, and we make use of them. Getting out of the building matters to people and is easy to let slip. Respite guests are treated as residents for as long as they are with us, not as visitors passing through. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. You are welcome to come and look round at a time that suits you, and to talk to the people who live here.
