About Terrys Cross House
We are a residential care home at Henfield, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. We try to run the place so that it belongs to the people who live in it. Residents have their own rooms with their own belongings, get up and go to bed when they choose and decide how they want to spend their days. Where somebody needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we aim to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because keeping what a person can still manage for themselves matters as much as helping with the rest. Where sight or hearing is poor, small habits matter a good deal: saying who you are on coming into a room, speaking clearly and not moving things about without saying so. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention when somebody would rather have something else. Being out in the Sussex countryside helps, and getting outside is part of ordinary life here. Family and friends are welcome whenever they would like to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Do come and look round and ask us anything.
