About Care at Stennings
Care at Stennings is a residential care home in Copthorne, West Sussex, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults making their first move away from the family home. We are a house with a small number of people living in it, and everything follows from that. People have their own space and their own routines, and a genuine say in how the place runs, from the weekly shop to what happens at the weekend. The people we support want different things from us. Some are out most days at work, college or with friends, and need us to make that practical and to be there when they get back. Others prefer a steady, predictable week and need staff who understand what helps them feel regulated and what makes a day harder. We take real time learning those patterns, including how somebody tells us they are struggling when they cannot say it directly. Support plans are written with the person, in language they can use, and revisited when things genuinely change. We offer respite stays as well, arranged with visits beforehand so that arriving is familiar rather than unsettling. Families and social workers stay closely involved. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
