About Harding House
Harding House is a residential care home in Wandsworth supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with sight or hearing loss. This is a home and we run it as one. Everybody has their own room and their own belongings, and the shape of the day belongs to the people living here rather than to a staff timetable. Support is agreed with each person and with those who know them well, and it ranges from full help with personal care through to prompting and encouragement while somebody manages things themselves. Communication is central to this work. We take time to learn how each person makes themselves understood, what settles them, what they find difficult and what their behaviour is telling us when they cannot say it directly. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, consistent small adjustments make a very large difference, so we get those right and make sure everyone works the same way. People are supported to have a life beyond the house, keeping up interests and activities, getting out into London, attending appointments and staying in touch with family and friends. Respite stays can be arranged where appropriate. If you are looking for a placement, please contact us and come and see the house.
