About Forest View Care Home
Forest View Care Home is a residential home in Waltham Forest for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing the people who live here as individuals rather than as a set of needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to understand what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Families usually know a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually fancy. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, and families are free to stay for a cup of tea or take a relative out for the afternoon. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a break or to help somebody regain strength after illness. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
