About Snydale Care Home
We are Snydale Care Home, a care home in Pontefract in Wakefield. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. Because the people living here have very different needs, we plan care one person at a time. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody managing a long term mental health condition, and we would rather do each properly than run one routine and hope it suits everyone. That means paying attention to detail: how somebody likes to be spoken to, what they can still do for themselves, what makes a bad day and what heads it off. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, small things make an enormous difference. Saying who you are when you come into a room, keeping furniture where it has always been, making sure glasses and hearing aids are clean and working. We treat those as part of the job rather than as extras. Visitors are welcome whenever it suits them, and we would far rather hear a concern early and plainly than have it stored up for months. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are pleased with that and we keep asking residents and their families where we still fall short of what they want.
