About Whitwood Grange
Whitwood Grange is a residential care home in Castleford providing a home for older people, for younger adults, for adults with learning disabilities and for autistic adults. Having that mix of people living together works better than you might expect, and it keeps the place lively. We build support around each person rather than around a category. Someone may need help with every part of personal care, or simply a bit of prompting and somebody to check in. Somebody may want their day planned out and somebody else may want to be left alone until they say otherwise. We ask, we write it down, and we change it when the person changes their mind. People here are involved in the running of the house as far as they want to be, from choosing meals to helping with the shopping. We support people to get out to work, college, clubs and family, because a home is a base to go out from, not a place to be kept. Short respite stays are available, which can give a family carer a rest or allow someone to try the place out first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit and see for yourself, so please give us a ring.
