About Grange-Lea Residential Care Home

We are Grange Lea Residential Care Home in Paignton. We look after older people, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are welcome for shorter periods. We want this to feel like a home rather than an institution. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and we work around those instead of expecting everybody to adopt ours. What time you wake, where you take your meals, how sociable you feel today: those decisions remain yours. Much of what makes a day here pleasant is quite ordinary, and we think it is worth saying so rather than dressing it up. For people living with dementia the useful work is in the detail. Knowing a person's history, spotting early what unsettles them, going at their pace rather than the timetable's. That heads off a great deal of distress before it begins. Where somebody has a physical disability or a sight or hearing impairment, we pay attention to access and to communication, so that those needs do not end up shaping the whole of their day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round.
