About The Rubens
The Rubens is a residential care home in Newport, in Telford and Wrekin. We look after older people who need help with daily life but not nursing care, including a good many living with dementia and people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. What we offer is help with the ordinary day, given properly and without rush. Getting washed and dressed in a way that leaves somebody feeling like themselves. Medicines on time. Meals that are hot, recognisable and worth eating. Help to move about the building safely. Company for people who had been sitting alone for most of the week before they came to us. Where sight or hearing has gone, a building that is hard to read shrinks a person's confidence, so we pay attention to light, contrast, noise, signage and the way staff approach somebody rather than simply arriving at their side. For residents with dementia the work is mostly about consistency. The same staff, the same rhythms, a bedroom that looks like the person's own room. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us or simply call in, and we will show you round.
