3 The Green is a residential care home in Sutton, supporting adults who are autistic or who have a learning disability, including younger adults. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We are a small home, and that is what allows us to work the way we do. Staff are familiar rather than interchangeable, and they know that one person needs warning before any change of plan, that another wants quiet in the morning, and that a difficult day usually has a reason behind it even when nobody can explain it at the time. Knowing people that well prevents far more distress than any policy could. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and appointments, and wherever possible we do those things alongside people so that skills stay in use rather than quietly disappearing. Choice runs through ordinary decisions, from the shopping list to how a weekend is spent, because that is where independence actually lives. Where somebody communicates in their own way, we learn it and every member of staff uses it. Families and friends are welcome here and we keep them involved as much as the person wants. Concerns are taken seriously the first time they are raised. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
