Safe
Inspectors found there were enough staff on each shift to meet people's needs and keep them safe. Recruitment checks helped make sure only suitable staff were employed. Risks to people were assessed, accidents and incidents were reviewed, and medicines, hygiene and infection control were managed safely.
Effective
Inspectors found staff had the induction, training and support they needed. Managers and staff worked with other professionals on areas including mobility, nutrition and health. Healthcare professionals said staff were receptive to advice and willing to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
Caring
Inspectors found staff were kind and treated people with respect. People said they had good relationships with the staff who supported them and enjoyed their company.
Responsive
Inspectors found people's care was tailored to their individual needs. Care plans were personalised and kept under review, and people and relatives were encouraged to help develop them. People had access to activities, outings and events, including activities tailored to their needs.
Well-led
Inspectors found the home had a strong management team that supported staff and communicated effectively with people, relatives and professionals. People, families and staff had chances to give their views, and these were listened to. The home had links with the local community, such as schools and businesses, and used these to promote public understanding of dementia.
What people told the inspectors
People told inspectors they had good relationships with staff and enjoyed the friendly, family atmosphere in the home. They also said they felt part of a community.
