About Wey Valley House
Wey Valley House is a residential care home in Farnham, supporting older adults and some younger adults. We look after people living with dementia and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our aim is that residents keep as much of their own life as possible. That means their own routines, their own belongings, their own preferences about food and company and how the day goes, and support to carry on doing whatever they can manage themselves. Taking over is quicker. It is rarely the right answer. For residents with a sensory impairment we attend to the practical things that make communication work: good light, clear contrast, sitting where your face can be seen, and taking the time to be properly understood rather than hurrying past. These small adjustments are what stand between somebody taking part and somebody quietly withdrawing. For residents with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried routine do more good than anything else we could offer, and we build the day around that. Respite guests are planned for with the same care as anyone moving in permanently. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. You are welcome to come and look round, speak to the people who live here, and ask us anything you want to know.
