About The Lodge
The Lodge is a residential care home in Ipswich. We support adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia and people living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays as well as longer term places. A good deal of our work sits where dementia and mental ill health overlap, which is an area other settings sometimes shy away from. People arriving here may have had difficult experiences elsewhere and may take a while to trust that this will be different. We expect that. Settling in is not a week long process for everybody, and we do not treat slow progress as a failure. Day to day we help with personal care, medication, meals and keeping in touch with family, health services and anyone else who matters to the person. We try to keep the home calm, predictable and unhurried, because that does more for most of our residents than any planned activity. When someone is distressed, we look for the reason. Respite stays give family carers a break and sometimes give the person a useful change of scene. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather be upfront about that than leave you to find it elsewhere. We know what was identified, work is underway, and we are happy to talk any of it through. If you are considering The Lodge, please visit, ask direct questions and see how the home feels when you are standing in it.
