About Orwell Care Home

Orwell Care Home is a residential care home in Ipswich, Suffolk, supporting older people and younger adults who need care and company close at hand. We try to keep the feel of a home rather than a facility, with days led by the people living them. We support residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, and people living with a physical disability. Our approach in each case begins with knowing the person properly: their history, their habits, what settles them and what does not. Routines are kept familiar, changes explained in advance, and distress treated as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be managed. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and just as much with the things that make a day worth having, from conversation and music to fresh air and being left in peace when that is what somebody wants. Relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period. We do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, so we would rather you came and formed your own view. Please visit at an ordinary time of day, talk to residents and staff, and ask us the awkward questions as well as the easy ones.
