About Brickbridge House
We are Brickbridge House, a residential care home near Wolverhampton. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Having people of different ages and very different needs living together works only if support is planned around individuals. We spend proper time at the start finding out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody touched, and we write that down and change it when it stops describing reality. Predictability matters a great deal, particularly for autistic people. Saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it, is worth more than reassurance. Where a routine is important to somebody we protect it rather than asking them to be flexible for our convenience. For people with a physical disability, the practical details are what count: enough time that nothing is rushed, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer a transfer done rather than assuming we know. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
