About Hill Lodge 2
Hill Lodge is a residential care home at Burton on Trent, and we support adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, older people who need help with daily living, and younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. We are a household rather than a facility, and supporting a mix of people well depends on treating each of them as an individual. Some residents like company and plenty going on. Others want quiet and predictability, and to be left in peace until they choose otherwise. For autistic people especially, that predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance, staffing is kept consistent where we can, and sensory comfort is taken seriously. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home, and wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them. A task done slowly by the person themselves is a better outcome than the same task done quickly by us. We are also interested in what people want beyond the house: work, college, hobbies, friendships and family visits. Supporting those is part of the job rather than an extra. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families, social workers and anybody considering Hill Lodge for somebody they support are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.
