About Bliss Care Home
Bliss Care Home in Westcliff is a residential care home for older people who need help with daily living. We support people living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people with physical disabilities, and we take respite stays as well as permanent places. Our aim is an ordinary life with the help that makes it possible. People keep their own hours and their own belongings, choose where and with whom they spend the day, and get assistance with washing, dressing and moving about as privately and unhurriedly as we can arrange. Food matters a great deal here, so meals are cooked on the premises with genuine choice at each one. Where somebody has a physical disability, a good deal of independence comes down to practicalities: the right equipment, a room arranged so that things are within reach, and staff who help at the point of need rather than taking over. We would rather somebody did a thing slowly themselves than had it done for them. With dementia and with mental health needs, consistency is what helps. Familiar faces, a steady rhythm to the day, and staff who understand a person well enough to know what lies behind a bad afternoon. We write down what we learn with families so that it stays with the home. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall, and visitors are always welcome.
