About Potensial - 2 Belgrave Terrace
Two Belgrave Terrace is a small residential care home in South Shields, South Tyneside, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. There are only a handful of people living here, and that shapes everything about how the house works. We are not a facility that people pass through. This is where the people who live here keep their belongings, choose their own decoration, argue about what is on the television and get on with ordinary life. Support is built around each person individually, whether that means help with personal care and medication, backing to manage money and appointments, or simply someone steady nearby while a person does things for themselves. Communication is where we put a great deal of our effort. Some of the people we support use speech, some use signs, symbols or their own established ways of letting us know what they think, and it is our job to learn those rather than expect anyone to fit in with us. We keep routines predictable, we give warning of change, and we pay attention to the things that make a day feel wrong before they escalate. Being part of the community matters here too, so people get out for shopping, clubs, family visits and whatever else they enjoy locally. We also offer respite stays for people who live at home with family and would benefit from a break, as would those who care for them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are happy to arrange a visit for anyone considering a placement.
