About Lonsdale Midlands - Windward Way
We are the Lonsdale home at Windward Way in the Solihull area, a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, adults living with a mental health condition and people with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays. The house is run so that the people living in it make the everyday decisions: what is cooked, what time the day starts, whether today is one for going out or staying in, who comes to visit and when. Staff are here to make those choices workable and to step back from what somebody can manage alone or wants to learn to manage. Where a person wants to build skills, we support it at their pace. Cooking, shopping, handling money, using the bus, keeping up a job, a course or a volunteering placement. Confidence is the measure that matters here, and it does not arrive on a schedule. Communication gets careful attention. A number of the people we support get their point across in ways other than speech, and understanding somebody properly is what allows them to direct their own life rather than have it arranged around them. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place or a respite stay, please get in touch and come and see the house.
