About Windsor House

We are Windsor House in Oswestry, Shropshire, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays for people who want a short break or whose families need one. We aim to run a house rather than a unit. People have their own rooms, arranged to their taste, and a genuine say in how the household works, from the shopping to what happens at the weekend. We support people to keep in touch with family and friends, to get out into Oswestry and the surrounding area, and to take on more of their own routine wherever they want to. Where somebody has a physical disability alongside a learning disability, we pay careful attention to the practical detail that makes independence possible: equipment that actually fits, rooms that can be moved around comfortably, and support with personal care that is unhurried and private. We take time to learn how each person communicates and what helps them feel settled, and we make sure new staff understand it before working alone. Keeping the team consistent is something we plan for. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep questioning our own practice all the same. If you are looking for residential support in Shropshire, please arrange to come and visit and meet the people who live here.
