About Norfolk Lodge
Norfolk Lodge is a care home in Sheffield. We provide residential care for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, both younger adults and older people, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We think the test of a place like ours is what people here actually do with their time. Not what is listed on an activities board, but whether somebody has friendships, somewhere to go, something they are looking forward to and some say over the ordinary decisions of the week. If a person's week looks the same as everyone else's in the building, we have got it wrong. So support is planned individually and reviewed honestly. People are involved in shopping, cooking, choosing how their rooms look and deciding what they want to try. Where somebody is working towards greater independence we put effort behind it. Where somebody needs life to be predictable, we hold routines steady and prepare them well before anything changes. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We would rather be upfront about that than quiet. Families and social workers considering us are welcome to visit, to meet the people living here and to ask us the awkward questions. We would rather answer them now than later.
