About The Lodge
Here at The Lodge in Wednesbury, Sandwell, we provide residential care for younger adults, including those living with learning disabilities and autism. We also offer respite care, which gives families and carers a chance to rest while knowing their loved one is somewhere safe, familiar and well supported. We know that moving into a care home, or even staying for a short period, is a big step. Our aim is to make that transition as straightforward as possible by taking the time to understand each person properly before they arrive and throughout their time with us. Everyone who lives or stays here has their own history, preferences and way of communicating, and we work hard to build our support around that rather than asking people to fit around us. For those with learning disabilities or autism, we think carefully about routines, communication styles and the sensory environment. We want The Lodge to feel calm and consistent, somewhere people can feel genuinely at home rather than just accommodated. We want to be straightforward with anyone considering The Lodge. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a "requires improvement" rating, and we take that seriously. We have been working through the feedback we received and making real changes to how we operate. We would rather be honest about where we are than gloss over it, and we are committed to demonstrating through our actions that things are moving in the right direction. If you would like to visit, ask questions or simply have an informal conversation about whether The Lodge might be the right fit for someone you care about, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk things through and show you around so you can see for yourself what life here looks like day to day.
