About Beau House
Beau House in Heywood is a residential home for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults, and we also offer planned respite stays. This is somebody's home before it is anything else. The people who live here choose how their rooms look, have a real say in meals and the shape of the week, and are supported to keep up the relationships and interests that matter to them. We try to make sure that the ordinary business of having opinions and making choices is not quietly taken away by the fact of living somewhere supported. Support is planned around each person. For some that means a full week out in Heywood and the wider area, with work, college, clubs and family time. For others it means a quieter and very predictable rhythm, which is an equally valid way to live. With autistic people in particular we pay close attention to routine, to warning of change and to the sensory side of the environment, because those details decide whether a day goes well. Our respite stays are planned in the same way as any other placement, giving families a proper break in the knowledge that their relative is somewhere familiar and well supported. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering Beau House for someone, please get in touch and come and look round.
