About Strathallen

Strathallen is a residential care home in Saltburn by the Sea. We support older people who need help with daily life and adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays for short periods. Having people at different stages of life living together works because we plan around each person rather than running the house to one pattern. An older resident who wants a settled routine and the company of the lounge, and a younger adult who is out at college or work for much of the week, both live here on their own terms. The basics are the same for everybody. People choose when to get up and go to bed, what they eat, whether they want company or their own room, and how that room is furnished. Personal care is given quietly and at the person's pace, and we are careful not to take over anything somebody would rather do themselves. Our team stays settled, which is what allows us to know people properly, notice early when something is wrong and understand what lies behind distress instead of simply managing it. Being near the sea helps. Walks, fresh air and family visiting for the day keep the home part of the town. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round.
