About Waterloo House
Waterloo House is a residential care home in Plymouth supporting adults whose mental health has made living independently difficult, including younger adults who are still working out what they want their lives to look like. Some people stay with us for a long time while things settle. Others come for respite, either as a planned break or because home has become hard to manage for a while. Recovery is not a tidy line, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we offer is a calm house, staff who are around without hovering, and a routine that people help to shape. That might mean support with medication and appointments, someone to go with you the first few times you use a new bus route, help getting back into cooking or budgeting, or simply somebody to sit with when the day has gone badly. We work with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers so that support here joins up with support outside. People here are adults and we treat them as adults. Risks get discussed with the person rather than decided over their head, and we would rather support somebody to try something than wrap them in cotton wool.
