About OSJCT Townsend House
We are a residential care home in Headington, Oxfordshire, offering a home to older people who need support with daily life, including people living with dementia. We also take respite bookings, whether planned in advance so a family carer can have a proper break or arranged more quickly when somebody needs care for a while. The things that make a care home work are mostly small and daily. Getting up when you are ready rather than when a rota says so. Eating what you actually want. Staff who know your name, your family and how you take your tea, and who can tell when you are not quite yourself. All of that rests on having a team who stay long enough to know everybody properly, which is why we put so much into looking after ours. For people living with dementia the steadiness of the day does a great deal of the work. Familiar faces, an unhurried pace and staff who can read what somebody means when the words are hard to find. Behaviour that looks difficult is nearly always a person trying to communicate something, and knowing them well is what makes it possible to work out what. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome and we would always rather you came and saw the place for yourself. Please contact us and we will arrange a visit at a time that suits you.
