About Priceholme
Priceholme is a residential care home in Scarborough for older people, offering permanent places and respite stays. What we provide is straightforward and we would rather describe it plainly than dress it up. A comfortable home near the coast, staff who are around and who know people well, help with the things that have become difficult, and a day that belongs to the person living it. People choose when to get up, what to eat, whether to join in with what is going on and whether they would rather be left in peace. Our staff help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving about, and they do it in a way that keeps somebody's dignity intact. Rooms are personal, families are welcome without appointment, and we would always rather raise a concern with relatives early than leave a worry to sit. Being where we are, getting outside is part of an ordinary day rather than a special occasion, and we make the most of that whenever the weather allows. Respite stays are genuinely welcome. A planned break is often what makes it possible for a family carer to keep going, and for some people a short stay is a sensible way of seeing how they get on before any longer decision is made. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see the home and ask us anything.
