About Hillcrest Care Home
Hillcrest Care Home provides residential care in Richmond, North Yorkshire, for older people. We support residents living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss, and we also take planned respite stays. We try to make this feel like a home rather than a place people have been put. Residents get up when they want, spend their days as they choose, keep their own belongings around them and see visitors whenever it suits. Our staff help with personal care, medicines, meals and all the practical business of the place, and they do it in a way that leaves people as much say as possible over their own lives. The small things are what people notice. A familiar face on shift, tea made the way you like it, being asked rather than told, and somebody spotting that you are not quite yourself today. For residents living with dementia, and for anybody with sight or hearing loss, that sort of familiarity matters more than any programme of activities. Respite stays give family carers a proper rest, and they let somebody find out what we are like without any commitment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask residents and relatives regularly how we are doing, and the critical answers are the ones we pay most attention to.
