About Isabella Court
Isabella Court is a residential care home in Pickering supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with a physical disability, including many younger adults. We are a home rather than a unit, and the people who live here have a real say in how it is run. Support is worked out one person at a time. Some of our residents need help with most of the day, including personal care and moving about safely; others need very little of that but rely on us for routine, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate. We take our time at the start, and we ask the people who know a person best rather than working from a file. Daily life involves the ordinary business of a household: cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your own room the way you like it, deciding what to do at the weekend and getting out into the town and the countryside around it. We support people to do what they can for themselves, even when it takes longer, and we help properly where help is needed. The right equipment and training are in place for residents with physical support needs, and our staff are trained in communication and in supporting somebody who is distressed. Respite stays are available and can give a family carer a genuine break. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
