About St Anne's Community Services - Jenkin Lodge
Jenkin Lodge is a residential care home in Carnforth, supporting adults with a learning disability and adults who are autistic. We are a small home, and we intend to stay that way, because the kind of support we offer depends on knowing people properly. Everyone who lives here has their own support plan, written with them and in a form they can actually use. We pay close attention to how people communicate, not just in words but in routine, mood and behaviour, and we adjust what we do accordingly. For an autistic person in particular, a predictable environment, a settled routine and staff who understand sensory needs make the difference between a good day and a difficult one. We want life here to look like anyone else's life. That means shopping and cooking, chores, choosing what happens at the weekend, seeing family and friends, going out into Carnforth and the countryside around it, and keeping up with activities, work or college where people want to. Where someone wants to build a new skill, we support the practice that goes with it rather than doing the task for them. We also offer respite stays, which give families a planned break and give the person a stay they can come to know and enjoy. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
